I designed, manufactured, and set the stones in this pendant for Abbot & Rinehart Jewelers in Downtown Portland. I designed the 14k yellow gold bezel to hold the pure gold coin with minimal obstruction of the details on the coin. It swings side-to-side on a hinged bail, and houses fifty-four 2mm diamonds around the front rim. Since the frame holding the coin blocks the text on its edge, I included this text, “INDEPENDENCIA Y LIBERTAD,” on the bezel itself. The two-part bezel overlaps, with a seam at the back of the coin sealed with decorative beading.
